The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

That is a really cool website... I spent a while in there just enjoying all the pictures and wishing I was bilingual

Before I retired as a Foreign Language Professor I had befriended one of the Eng Professors, who is German, whose office was right next to mine. He's helped me when I get stuck translating. Americans aren't the only ones that use idioms. They do too!

Renie, I wish I could speak and write in most languages! But, here's a shortcut. If you copy and paste using Google translator, you can understand 90% of what is written. Understanding the spoken language is a whole different story. Important to know if you spend any time looking at birds in other countries.

Sure you can show them, I show choc orp bantams. You can enter them as what they are. They can only win BV or RV. They have to be in standard to go on to BB or RB.

Don, does there have to be a minimum number of that variety? Showing them would sure create an interest in the Gold Laced. It would allow more people to see them in person. Pictures just don't do them justice.

No you can enter any number. This is why several are showing choc bantams. That way when we get ready to get them in the standard, it won't take as long. The UOC has a record of shows that was a orp meet and these type of birds was showed. Seeing the birds in person gets people wanting them. Join the APA and put a ad in there yearbook, this is a very good place for people to see them or at least let people know they are out there. The UOC always has ads that members put in. I have always thought the GL were so nice and different than what we have in the US. I think it is great that there is folks like you that are raising them.

For those of you that got a "kick" out of Lola or LOL, here's the lucky chicken nugget. This hatch has blessed me with cinnamon gold chicken nuggets! I can't believe my luck!

This is Chip with Lola in the background. Chip is posing in every picture. Just like his father! He is a chip off the "ole Rock"

One more. This one, in the background, was the only gold headed one. Chip is in the foreground.

How cute!!! The are very nice Dee.

This is a cockerel I once had that was unmistakably Splash. But the older he got, the darker his hackle and saddle got, and people kept thinking he was a blue.

When I see Rebelyell's boy, I don't doubt he's a splash though it does confuse me why some seem to get looking more "blue" as they age.
Oh ... he sure was pretty.... looks like a painting. :)
