The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Sarah and Lynne,

Thanks for posting the kids !The kids are coming into bloom.Don't worry Sarah, my 50% EBOs are generally heavier than the 100% English. FiFi will catch up now that she's healed from the hawk attack. Can't wait to see photos of all my babies out there as they grow up.

I have 6 kids here who are much younger, but they are already very large too. Just hatching a very few more this spring for a couple of folks. Hopefully more pullets this time !
I will post some pics of your grands this week. They look awesome with fantastic coloring and type! They are huge!!

Thank you guys, this could have been possible with out Julie , I'm honored to have them.

Now I just need a little more time and hopefully one day ill be able to have some buffs from the dragonlady, I always drool when I see her Orps

I think I can settle with black and buff colors ( one day )

Thank you all for your kind words. And Nava, I love that black! Honestly black and buff are my two favorites at the moment too. My original chickens were hatchery buff orps and wow oh wow what a difference. But I've known for a long time now that there is just no comparison.

PS: 70 today, got the doors and windows open for some fresh air.

Boy, it is tough. ..better camera and some classes as dee said .I was thinking, there is not one stitch of shafting on this bird..nothing that is jumping out at me anyway. I picked him up and was looking him over this day. despite his little flaws , this part is a real asset .that is ice that he is standing on.

Not sure where my post disappeared? Lynne, as you know shafting is my nemesis. When I looked at your boy it was the first thing I noticed!! Breed that boy. You need to harness this seemingly impossible trait and pass it on.

You got me pondering over this Dee......this is one of Rogers..I was thinking , the english it appears in this line had the time to work this out..couldnt have been easy for them..I was thinking about what you have been working on....Sadly I lost the baby girls to the weasles..I have him in with Mrs softie right now, cole is in there too..for reasons I cant explain other than they were raised together, those 2 roosters get along without any conflict....I have 10 mrs softie eggs brewing right now..I never see anything going on in that pen, but the tell tale signs are there..mrs softie has some dull mud prints and roughed up feathers, but not sure which rooster and if they are fertile, need a couple more days to tell..
Im thinking its not Boo boo..He reminds me of that movie Juno..you know that wasnt his Idea..

Better get out the kids' sweaters for tomorrow. Here we go again !

It would be worth giving Mrs Softie and Boo Boo a honeymoon suite for a couple of weeks. He'll perk up if he's the only cock bird! Sure would be nice to get a pullet out of that breeding to breed back to him.

Im going to try that Dee....Boo sure seems very interested in the australorp hens, he follows the fenceline right behind them seems to ignore that black orp hen..But then maybe Im missing something..Last year I couldnt get a fertile egg out of her..this year Ia figured 2 roosters of black or blue might produce something in there..trying without the plucking, ..if not then Im going to pluck..

Julie I really like that splash chick it's so big,
I really love all your orps!!

ETA: these pics were taken yesterday, it was like 30* but still we had the sun come out and they were enjoying it,I have a hatchery BR with them her name is Barbara she is blind in one eye and lays green eggs, she looks so small next to them. I have 2 black chickens and 1 blue, but one of the black ones is in a separate pen cause I'm taking that pullet to a show next week

Nice Birds Nava

My "kids" - and thedragonlady's grandkids

They thought I might be bringing food.. so of course Cleo is in the lead.

Figured out no food was coming so off the go LOL. I forgot to put a 5 gallon bucket in there first but his back is almost even with the top of one

They are getting so big!! Nice wide and beautiful color!
Nava your birds have really good type.
Robj welcome to the forum.
Galanie those are some mighty fine Buffs there. Looking forward to future photos of them.

Had my last Cataract Surg this morning early. Kind of like a drive thru. I was there at 6:30am and was leaving at 7:20. Take it easy for another week and then I am good to go. I have got to lose some weight from doing so little for the last three weeks from the last one. My husband has taken good care of me.
x2 and glad your surgerys are all over. Nice to have a hubby to spoil you too. Let him, it make them feel good.
Quote: I might have to try that myself. Thanks for the suggestion.

My blues are growing and growing..I am pretty sure the pullet should be laying soon. Her color is turning nice.

This picture is very funny...

The snow is melting today..going to be a muddy mess soon.
