The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

No prob Roger...Ive got to get out and get some new pics..Sorry we got off track ..all the birds out today its going to be up to 60!!! OMG..It has been such a long winter for everybody..especially the chickens..they are way out in the pasture for the first time since last early winter..

Considering I only have 2 pair of blue and blacks and they r outta Julie and Joys line and I already hatched a solid white Orp out of them I worry thet just keeping chicks from them to build up my flock I will eventually run into fertility and health issues because my birds r so closely related. I don't wanna breed them to American birds so I just ordered eggs from 100% English birds of the same color from a completely separate importer. Gotta say the pics I seen of his birds r awesome. So hopefully by combining the 2 lines I can still improve my birds without running into fertility and health issues a few years down the road.

I know they are happy!

I used to show QHs as a youth. Somewhere along the lines I lost my nerve and I sold my last horse in May 2012 (grade Paint gelding, rescued). I also got a bit big after my last kid and decided not to ride anymore.

I decided if I got tired of the chickens, I can eat them. You can't do that with a horse and they cost a whole heck of a lot more to take care of.
I was just telling my husband that last night. He was a little surprised at the cost of some chicks I am getting. I just brought up how much cheaper and lower maintenance they are than horses. Told him he was lucky it was just some fancy chicks and not a fancy show horse.

They r a combination of Roger Harrison's birds and Marc Sacre's breed together. Hmmm so if its the same Roger on here it looks like my birds will still b related some but still new blood

Try this...

I have a Blue Trio coming from them also.

There are "GOOD" people in this hobby and there are "BAD" people in this hobby. Too often I see & read the bad folks getting promoted as the breeders to get birds from. It is refreshing to hear a story of the GOOD people getting some credit for helping out those in need.
RENIE is one of our better folks for the hobby. People like her and others have brought smiles to faces that would otherwise be discouraged from hanging in there and sticking it out.
Good luck in the future with your babies.
