The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

"I will compare mine to your, but GOD FORBID you compare yours to mine!"  = Double standard.

I don't know ANYBODY that has been more adamant about how 100% ENGLISH IMPORT NOT AMERICAN their Orps are than you.  Prove me wrong.

I Always find this argument so strange...all orpingtons are imported they did not just materialize here..when US moved into idustrialization..some of the orps went to near extinction..the white being a prime example..there are some amazing breeders in UOC. Working very hard trying to keep American version from the brink of extinction..things were so bleak for the white orp that they were forced to add rock and wyandotte just to save them...i was Told there has not been a blue probably in America since early 1940s..extinct until they were re-imported.. yet they are still listed in American standard.I show both English and sop..

The people in this thread just want to enjoy their birds and photos..I'm Sorry if anyone feels threatened by these beautiful English birds..I thank God that the Englishmen created them.

I am coming in here late.... but ... I think it would  be absolutely wonderful to have a new class added to the shows just for the imported English type.   That could really work :)

I just go right ahead and show both strains with no cares about it..there are no American blue orps without imports and yet they are listed in sop..eventually breeders and judges together will work thing out...everything evolves..

I know what the APA says. If you are going to continually emphasize how NOT American APA type your birds are, then you should NOT COMPETE AGAINST THEM. That is a double standard.

Put them up against other UK birds! They are SO COMMON now- you shouldn't have any problem finding other UK birds to compete against.

I am not bitter. I just don't have any reason to slather praise on somebody that I feel is competing unethically.
I don't know if your have read the first original post on this thread but this thread is not meant to discuss APA standards.

ROGER I have been called Worse. And Galanie I agree that there are some folks who made bold statements on EBAY about not having their Orpingtons contaminated with imported Orpington blood and said all manner of hateful things about folks and have now decided they need imported blood to improve their flocks.
Goose and Fig I have no idea what your beef is. If you don't agree with the Judges you should take it up with them.
This thread is for people to talk about how great their imported Orpingtons are. I think if you want to discuss how bad you think someone is for winning and showing their English imported Orpingtons you should start thread just for that and everyone who wants to kick it around can go there and do just that.

BTW Vivi those chicks are adorable.

Dee I am trying not to have fence envy. Love the wrought Iron and old wood. You may have to give me a lesson on Wood burning. I like. BFF, Imogene is so creative with her Coops. She has flower gardens around them with gorgeouw fllowring vines growing over sides for shade. She will have Dry Gourds hanging on the Chicken wire with plants growing in them. I love a little creativity.

Thank you Hon. I have about 20 or so still hatching.

VIVI
I hatched 10 yesterday. We are getting rain all day today. The extended forcast says we will be in mid 80's rest of the week. Maybe i can get some chicks and adults moved around.

I actually got 4 eggs to day out of the black pen. Finally they are starting to lay
