The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

There are many Americans who are filled with self-loathing who feel that anything from another country is automatically superior to it's American counterpart. Then there are those who are motivated by the need to have something different or unusual. The desireability lies in their having something few others have.

I don't know anyone who feels like that. The desire I had to get the imported Orps was strictly because I adore how they look not so I could have something someone else didn't have so I  refuse to be put in that box
I simply love , feel awed, by the way they look. It may be hard for you to understand if they don't move you that way. I don't feel they are superior to American Orps and if they move you that way(American orps) I am so happy for you and hope have one just like you like. I felt that way(Awed) about Bearded silkies  until I saw the Orpingtons. I still like silkies and I have never seen one in UK pictures that I thought looked like the ones I enjoyed so much over here.  .  You don't know me and I don't know you so  cant we just respect each others difference in preference without lumping  folks into categories.

Thank You!

as far as i know there are only 2 lines for the imported blue, black, & splash & Renie has both so getting some from her would help so yours don't get in-bread now maybe there is a 3rd line but i havn't heard of it yet. piglett

next year I also need to get another line of BBS orps...I think I will get some from Irene I really like the way hers look and recently I am liking the orps that have a bit of american blood in them to give them that tighter feathering.

there are quite a few different lines of Imported BBS, Julie was one of the first to import along with Joy from three ravens farms. Those are just two off the top of my head. there are quite a few more out there.

There are at least 4 lines of BBS in the United States presently, at least that I'm knowledgeable of.

And now with the importation of colors like Chocolate, Mottled, etc. (any Black based color) you can outcross your BBS birds to them for an influx of fresh blood to begin creating a new genetically diverse line.

Pink the 3 month old Chocolate Chip

His comb is interesting

Is it a terrible fault

Sprigs are a very severe fault.

If you plan on showing any of your birds you shouldn't use him for breeding.

Crossing him to hens without sprigs will produce birds that don't have springs, but genetically will recessively be carrying the genes to reproduce the trait. Breed him to any of his offspring or breed his offspring together and you will hatch more birds with sprigs.

the comfort birthing center...there were 2 hens under this young rooster ..but by the time I grabbed the camera..one disappeared..this goes on every single day..somehow the hens find comfort in laying an egg under this rooster...and he lets them..he was going to jump out and go on with his day but wound up standing there for this ordeal..Im kind of perplexed that he puts up with this every day..

True Love.....such a gentlemen.....LOL

I think Nellie and Bryce have brought in new blacks :) since Julie and Joy lines came in. There might be others I don't know about too. Just so thankful to have the new genes coming in because I really love these birds.
