The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I noticed the Evenness of Color on that cockerel as well. My Import Cross cockerels came even in color even though I Bred them to a Huge 9.5 lb. Pullet of mine that was a little dark in wing bow. Now about 90% of the Pullets came nice even Color of the pullets. Some were light colored in the breast area. I have experienced so many variations on Buff Color Mating's over the Years. I can Tell you I have Definite Preferences for certain Matings But unless you know Color of about 2 to 3 Previous Generations of a given line. I think about combination can be used in one way or another however I seldom use a male bird light in the breast unless he is Awesome in some other Features.

Harry; I managed to maintain some size in my whites , but the cockerels I would like heavier. The Imported Sacre Buffs crossed onto Mine gave some 11.5 cockerels I like the size on these. The Pullets all weighed * lbs at point of lay and they lay like crazy. I didn't use any Sacre Whites, Just Personal Preference, A friend of mine and I did buy 3 of Nellie's Whites. Based on Pictures of Lynne's Whites from her I am hoping for success with that cross. I was asking the ladies on here what the strait import buff pullets weigh. As you know and I tell People the Whites are a real pain in the Butt.

Vivian Hope you get Better Quick. That weight sounds about right for that cockerel compared to my original Bird of that strain. I think the Birds of that strain, especially the dark ones have some Decent Prepotency for Buff Pigment. I still really like the Type on those Birds I especially like the Tail on the one I have but he didn't pass it on very strongly.

No problem with that thought. I am keeping 4 Import Cross Cockerels. I am going to send a pair to a United Orp Club member at Columbus. If you would get in a serious Bind about a cockerel in spring, I could help you out. I have done this a few times before with fellow breeders in my area.

when i get some hatched out of that typy male Allen..come up and see them....one of the females is pretty nice, really big girl..nice build but she wants to yellow a bit..no stubbs..wondering if that could be sex linked as only males had stubbs.. the very typy male had very few..up high on shank..some or most fell off as he got older..just the color thing in the way..but the house is built..i couldnt tell you exact weight...but hes a massive bird...and i now see what you mean pain in the but..but its a good pain in the butt..its sure not for everyone..because there is going to be work involved..

Those Stubs are going to be a pain in the whites. I Put a Ray Watford Buff out of a 23 year Closed English Flock from out of Canada 12 years ago and I still have deal with them in my Strain of Buffs.

Never had a stub on any of the 4 US lines I have used , or on the English in Buffs.

Bryce asked to see my LF Chocolate pullets. The pullets are crossed from my split rooster from Bryce to Marc's hens. The father is a direct import from Bryce as is the hens from Marc as I understand. The first pic is one of my LF Chocolate roosters from Bryce. The pullets are from my own breeding. The last pic is one of the Momma hens from Marc. She is black, though the lighting makes her seem a little chocolate.

These are my youngest girls.
