The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

if our talking about the picture i poster they call them lemon cuckoo

not sure why not a barred lemon or lemon barred

mine are just something i have been playing with on the side

i moved a bunch at the swaps last season, people thought they were "cute"

i ended up with enough to more or less to pay my feed bill for the season so i was happy about that

if Mrs Dragon is on the mark i may be doing some processing

oh well sometimes you get the bear .... sometimes the bear gets you

Hi piglett, Christabelle's post wasn't about your lemon cuckoo's. That post was directed at a seller on EBay and BYC selling a "new color" as cream laced. :)

I don't know what is going on but I am having to go around my hand to get to my thumb so to speak to get on this thread. When I get on BYC and go to the Breeds forum this thread is not showing up for me. Joy had to email the link to me to get on and it is still like that. That seems so strange.

Anyway I am trying to show some of my English here.

This is Lizzie my English girl. I lost her to being eggbound the latter part of May. She a whole tube of backed up eggs and died on the nest trying to lay. I was very sad for me. She had always had a problem laying soft shell eggs at times from the time she started laying. I do have a few pullets from her hatched and they are still very young yet. They sure are lookers though.

Joy this is a photo of a Gold laced pullet that was shown in Germany this past year. I understand from my English friend who was at the shown and took this photo that the Germans have the best GL Orps

Okay finally it is letting me see this thread when I connect with BYC.  Strange.

They have the best Wyandottes ever they are soooooooo beautiful and breed for high quality

I hatched my first Pure English LF Chocolate Orpington chick. It will be a pullet. The other 2 could be pure black male, pure black female, or black male split to chocolate. Either way, I love my English Blacks also.

I had to dig up this old pic..

I have had 3 "black" orpington chicks hatch out.. but after fluffing the two oldest look more like the chocolate chick pictured above.. has anyone had black chicks hatch out that look more brown than black?

yinepu, Can you post a pic of your brown colored black chicks? Could there have been chocolate in the bloodline?

I know the seller also has chocolates.. so it's possible that there were some mixups in the eggs or a roo could have gotten in where he wasn't supposed to be.. or maybe there is some chocolate mixed into his black's bloodlines.. These eggs were supposed to be pure black .. so there's no telling (I'll send him an email once I get everyone's opinions if they really are chocolate or if I am just seeing brown where there isn't any.. lol)

I'll take a few pics and get them posted.
