Orps can get sunburnt

that is why some say they should they should only be kept in the shade

Ok everyone, I have a question. One of my white english orpington pullets has what looks like a wart oor tag under her eye on her bottom eye lid. What causes this? Is she sick or is this ok

I never knew that. Will a black orp get dull & lose that pretty metallic green shine or is it just certain colors that are affected by sun?
I'm not sure about the blacks but i do know a splash will be a rough looking bird after it is allowed to spend a bunch of time out in the hot sun.

we are looking to add an outside run for out BBS orps

i'll be sure to cover it with a blue tarp so they have some shade

Thanks. I never knew that. Mine free range all day but have shade trees available. They spend most of the day hanging out under their fav tree & decimating my hostas.
