The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Here is a great big girl i like. She is about 1 yr. Old. She has a great comb and good lacing. Wonderful size. A smidge darker than I want but i think she will make me some great chicks with Charlie

Jeremy I haven't picked her up lately. I need to and see. She is very round with a long keel bone in the front. I may breed her to a splash boy next season if I have one I keep. I really liked Neville but you needed him and he wouldn't have been old enough by the time I quit hatching for myself this year so I was thinking I should have some more nice ones from the ones i have hatched and I do have several that are getting those really black splashes on them. A English Friend recommended breeding splash to blue to lighten the color up. Blues are definitely a challanging color but never boring.

Here is her backside. She is such a sweet girl too. I need to name her I guess. I tend to mostly name the boys and every once in a while give the girls a name. Yall are really good at naming all your birds.

Ha ha that is funny Tenn. Sounds more like a Greek name than a English name though. Is the new soon to be Princess in England named Kate? I might name her Kate.

I think you should name her Fluffy McBig Butt Julie! She has got quite the backside.

Yup, Kate Middleton is the princess to be. Do you have a William for her?

Ha. How bout J. Lo or shakira. Both known for their, er... Fluffy backsides.

Kidding, butt (pun intended) Matilda sounds like a rather portly name. It means powerful battler. Friend of mine says "Prudence" when asked first name that comes to mind of a "portly English girl", but we have one of those already!! More I found that are pretty.... Adaire, Betina, Camelia, Imogene.... Want me to continue??

my Rooster Hoss... I have a sappy story but what the hec. My DH was working on the coop and he tells me tonight the 3 month old babies, hatched by my black hen, decided to come inside to the roost instead of hiding in a nest box...well their mom who kicked em out early decided that was not a good idea and she pecked one hard in the head, hard enough it knocked it out cold and it fell to the ground and twitched, DH was sure she killed it but before he got there to pick it up he said Hoss jumped off his roost and went and stood over it and its two siblings ran underneath him and hid. the black hen backed off and left it , would not approach with Hoss standing over it. DH waited till it came to then come and got me. Its alive and fought like mad when I picked it up, so I let it go hide in a small nest box inside the roost. hopefully its ok, not much I can do for a head injury. DH came in later and says..people say chickens are stupid but that big rooster proved they are not that stupid. He said Hoss's composure and stature standing over the hurt baby was pretty impressive so props to Hoss. these are not even his chicks, they were here before Julie sent him to me. he has always shared with them though. yeah I know it sounds silly but who would have thought a big ol rooster would get off his throne to stand over the fallen lol.
