The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

So Julie, a couple of your grand-kids, great grand-kids or somewhere down the lines have made it my way (by way of another byc'er).

Two gorgeous young blues with some really nice lacing, about 7-8 weeks old. Will try and get pics of them tomorrow to share. Hoping one turns out as gorgeous as Biggie to show this fall.

So I discovered today that one of my English Lav chics managed to become houdini and get it's leg band off, I now can't tell it from my regular blacks that hatched at the same time..

That is great Hen. I look forward to seeing your pics.

I have had chicks do that before. I try and put them on tighter to start with even though I have to change every week. Green bands laying in the bottom of the box do me no good.

Oh darn it!
I don't have that problem, since my other pen has 0% fertility.

I generally use green, red, and yellow so I can see them well. the last one that got it off was green and I said Oh Poo.

HenThymes, thought I'd give you the bad news on my hatch. I hope that any hatch. For about 5 hours, my incubator was unplugged. Humidity up to 85 and temp down to 70, on day 15. Neighbor who was turning the eggs for me didn't mean to, poor thing! I'm so sad about it, but am hatching another big one next month.

Most of these are of Neville, I hadn't realized how much he has grown since getting here.

I love him Julie, he's a very sweet cockerel.

I love this one.

It reminds me of the Gothic American portrait.

Someone kept getting in the way while I was trying to take pictures of Neville. Jealous maybe?

Kathy... this is how we ensure fertility here!

Oh and look who was hanging out in the trees today across the creek... the teeny hawk that Neville was sparring with, any ideas on what kind he is and whether or not he'll one day try to eat the chickens? I'm not sure if it's fully mature, it's under a foot tall and still looks to have juvenile feathers.

Julie, I wanted to ask you too if you could tell me what kind of soaps you sent me? I'm almost out of Joy's bars so I'll be using your next!
