The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I had heard about the bags from Bama. I do have a drier bag for my sons sneekers. I probably could use that. Otherwise its either keep them all in different incubators OR>> stay on egg watch until all of what I am looking for has hatched... UMM i did that this yr

thank goodness there was only 5 of them lol They were eggs from my only adult 3/4 English splash hen I got from Bama... bred back to the roos I got from her. That is where all my splash babies came from

I have 7 of these little foamy incubators. I have experienced the less I attend them, and do not care about water the better my hatches are. With that being said I do not use any longer a hatching incubator. I tend to put in one line of Blacks and one line of Buffs with a project line or two and sometimes do not even turn off the auto turner and have had great hatches. This way I do not have to guess who came out of which egg. Right now I am down to just hatching from my best two Black Orp pens and those eggs NEVER go into the same bator anymore. Same with my Buffs. I have filled up the extra space with my Birchen Marans and my BBS Ameraucanas. So, I still have plenty more to hatch. Never know when your best bird will hatch. My best Black 2 cockerels from last year hatched Boss Hogg in May and Flotilla in Oct. And Flo is prolly going to surpass Boss in quality. So, I am now ruthless in culling. Except for the project birds. Good luck in eveyone's hatches who are still hatching.

Bama<< knows me so well... hahahaha Well I did it! You guys will be so proud of me

I got out the puncher and a bottle of alcohol< no the rubbing kind not the drinking kind.. lol cleaned the foot and puncher with each bird. Thank you so much for warning me about the little skin tag... I made sure it was cleaned off before removing the puncher from position. Worked great. Now the chicks will remain in the brooder for a couple of more weeks. This will allow the foot time to heal with it's new perminent marker in place. Wow... wasn't nearly as bad as removing due claws off my puppies

I had a great hatch today...16 out of 17 hatched successfully and are chirping away in the Just Hatched unit.
