The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I haven't posted here on this thread much but wanted to share some photo's and ask a question. We just hatched out our first chicks from our Orps, and wanted to know if anyone here has had any luck wing sexing them? We are only keeping one, and would really like to increase our odds of keeping a hen! Any other tips beside leg size for sexing day old chicks?

Here's our roo Mr. Baxter Beetle:

Love the baby pictures - nothing cuter than a little chick. As far as sexing day-olds, sometimes you just KNOW immediately upon hatch that one is a rooster, but I generally have to wait at least a week or two before I can sex chicks - and even then I'm not 100% right all the time. Some of them are tricky and takes a while to figure out what they are.

So Jeremy - why don't you post a recent picture of Neville and your girls over here on the English Orp thread. I'd love to see them.

We need some new pictures folks !!!

Here's one of my blue males from last year. I've kept him, but didnt breed from him.

Would love opinions on him

Matt, he's a nice bird, I'm wondering with the others why you didn't use him to produce more?

A few of the pictures yesterday turned out nice, I'll work on watermarking and upload them this afternoon.
