I don't think the shade of blue matters as long as the lacing is great and the body type is what they are looking for in an Orpington. My two cents!!!

I wish now I had told you to mark that hen SOLD and not sell it to that kid! LOL

I have more blues that I will gladly share with you! They are just getting to the point where the lacing is starting to show up. I'll take some pictures and send them to you. I have dark, med and light!!! Seems to me the darker ones have the better lacing at least so far.

Good grief - my mind just gets worse and worse, I forgot those were from me

. I shipped them on 05/31 so they would have hatched on 05/30 - so that makes them 2 months old. Look at the pictures and look at the difference in the feathering on the back and those little tuft tails. Boys take longer to feather (especially on the back) and boys always get that little puff of a tail.

Over here the shade of blue is one of the most important thing, dark blues just aren't considered in the show pen. It is incredibly easy to breed 100's of dark well laced blues, it's incredibly difficult to breed 1 light well laced blue!! I believe Andalusian breeders have the same problem.

Ill try and get some photos uploaded in the next hour or so to show what we would consider to be good colour on male and female blue Orps over here.

radirevo, it's a shame you don't live in England!!! I will more than likely be selling him as soon as I'm sure my 2011 males are better than he is.

I'd be willing to move to England for their Orpingtons alone !!! Y'all are so, so lucky over there to have so many beautiful Orpingtons to choose from. We're slowly getting them over here, but not fast enough !!!
