The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Very nice color and lacing, one question... white legs?

Their legs are supposed to be white.

The eye color is brown-red, the beak is light horn-colored in the male and horn colored in the
female. The legs flesh colored white, bottom of the feet white. In the females slight gray shinning
is allowed.

Thanks, I was just curious, I have seen white, yellow and slate on the ones on the UK sites for gold laced.

Yes, if you know Orpingtons much, as long as the legs are not yellow, and the bottom of the feet are "white", then it's right. Maybe a white leg color looks odd in that color chicken to some people but it's a correct coloring for an Orpington so long as it's not yellow and the feet bottoms are neither yellow nor black, but white.

I have got to get photos of my orp babies. They are gorgeous. They are starting to feather out. Right now they kind of look like mini ostrichs. LOL. They are so funny. But they are HUGE!!!! I am watching closely to see if there is any distinctive difference that may show boy/girl...but I am not seeing anything yet.

Just start watching for the wattles to start dropping,
Yea we all need to see pic. of them.

One of my American orps started laying at 8 months, the other at almost 11 months. My part English ones started laying at 7 and 8 months. So there ya go. Anywhere from 7 months to a year I guess. The certainly don't start at 20 weeks like the layer breeds do. And yes, pictures always!

What do you guys think of these pullets? They are 12 weeks old. Are their tails coming in correctly. Seems like the splash's tail is slow to grow. I have a thick skin so you can tell me what you think. Also, if it's too early to really evaluate them, let me know that too.

1. This girl has the best lacing, but she gets picked on a lot and doesn't have any tail feathers yet.

2. Splash

3. Blue
