Funny you should mention Sandy's creles.............. Actually I thought the color would breed more true but there was a very wide variety of color that hatched from the crele eggs, from lovely crele color to blk/white mottled and even lavender type mottled???? I realize they are still chicks and maybe the color will change but there is still a big variety, very interesting.![]()
I will try to get some pics of the color variation in the creles. Of course the type is very nice, color variation is a little odd.![]()
I did get Cuckoo but some of those are solid black (and lavender cuckoo). I had asked Sandy about the black and she said there was a black hen in with the cuckoos which would be where the solids came from. My question is will the blacks carry the cuckoo gene - need to make sure they are used correctly if that is the case and not used in someones black breeding program.........
Right now the whites and jubilees are the biggest and fluffiest out of all the chicks. The lavenders are the smallest and slowest to develop. The rest are kind of in the middle somewhere. All are just plain cute![]()
So, the band colors....are those from different lines, or do the colors mean something else? Beautiful boys. Would love to have one.
Quote: Oh, that makes sense. Well, right now I am still tryinig to finish off the coops I need to get done before snow flies.....Yes....I DID say it, I used the 4 letter word. It is going to be here before we know it.
Thank you, I would love one from you...ANY color, but right now I need to build coops. Once coops are done, then I can talk about getting more birds (don't tell husband). But they are beautiful.
OK, here are the "Crele/Legbar" chicks that hatched from the eggs we imported this summer. I sent the pics to Sandy as well and asked if she could send me some pictures of the parent stock.
As I said there is quite a variety in color. I will update information as I get it from Sandy (and pictures as they mature). As far as the rest of the chicks I hatched they are all pretty much true to the breed and look like one would expect them to.
(Thoughts and comments are always welcome)
Yes, these all hatched from Crele/Legbar eggs from Sandy

Thanks all of y'all for the compliments on my birds, I do the best I can with them & relay enjoy them, hope y'all do to, For those of you waiting on eggs from me I will get them to you ASAP mine are still in molt & laying some but nothing fertile they just ain't breeding at this point yet, my roo. looks like a rag right now with all his feathers he has lost.
Go to Keith's Orpingtons Poultry, Crele Orpington, and you will find some explanation about them. Quite a lot of the offspring turn out white because of the white recessive gene.Well I guess I am more confused than ever on the crele color and what to expect, and I think I have probably taken up enough space on here about it. But if anyone breeds true crele orpingtons (here or abroad) if you could PM me your thoughts and more insight I would really appreciate it. Crele/Legbar/Golden Cuckoo is one of my favorite colors and I don't plan on giving up on them. I am seriously looking for more information and PM is fine.
(I have seen the gold laced/partridge color show up in my own crele project line early on.)
I will continue to post pics as these little guys grow.![]()

Sandy's reply to the color variation:
"Oh Nellie I do like a couple of those pictures - looks like you have what I would love to have you have a jolly good looking legbar rooster and a hen, the white and gold lace ones are throw backs but needed in the lines too, you look as though the flight has caused the ancestors to hatch which will give you different stock, how far back they go I do not know as I did not have those but would dearly love to own some. "

Couple pictures here so anyone reading this will not have to go back to find the pics:
The lighter chicks below are not actually white. The one on the right has more motleing
than the pic shows and the one the left looks lavender with very tine bars (not a solid color).
