These pictures are really interesting. The first place C and H both look like English Orps of today. The third place Orps look like our current SOP Orps. How did that happen?? Look at the top and bottom lines.

The first place cock has a flat spot on the lower breast and a tail break....that is not what you want in any kind of Orp. the three females have pretty the much same bottom line, the first two have a tail break and the third place bird's tail is too low for any kind of Orp.. That is how I see them as a licensed APA/ABA judge.

I love to read your comments when I have a visual reference. I'd looked at those pictures several times and never noticed the tail nor the flat line following the curve. I suggest once a week someone posts a silhouette and we have a "what's wrong with this picture" moment. Thank you Walt.

Of they sketch or of the hen? They both look like they would be great to me.

I like/breed for a bigger and wider head and more pronounced tail feathers. I don't want a "soft" looking rounded tail. The length of leg, the short back with a gentle swoop into a slightly higher tail angle on this bird are something that I like to see in my Orps as well.

If she's real and you can get her to breed into your project I say go for it!

Need help sexing please, They look like a trio, the woman did her best at it, there are 2 that are 4 to 5 weeks and the other Roo in question is a little older. but here they are, My beautiful Lavenders

I agree with u on the head but I actually prefer a round soft tail as long as the set isnt too low. I think thats one of the things that seperate the UK Orps from the American Orps. Rounder tailed ones r usally broader in the lower back and have a bigger bustle(for lack of a better word). Too me it makes a large differnce in the look and I often question if the ones with pointier tails actually have american blood in them but then again I dont show either. Just breed for the qualities I like and what sperates them from the american Orps.




Altho color is off a bit in these photos I like the look of the softer rounder tail. I looked up hatch date on this bird and she turned exactly 6 months old Sep 3 of this month. She still has alot of finishing out to do but u can already sorrta get an idea of how tail is gonna set. I worry comb is gonna b too big going by the size of it now tho. Very nice scetch btw and Jeremy has some awesome birds but I say breed for the traits u preffer. All lines dont have to look exactly the same and gives a bit of diversity.

I agree my lavs were very easy to sex at that age. Looks to b a trio.
