The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Here are Monty's and Mrs. Pumphry's !00% English Buff Orp.3 and 4 week old chicks out for the first time with their proud sire.

Notice my monofilament hawk deterrent? It was a lot of work, but the whole orchard is covered. We've had a pair of Bald Eagles and a pair of Red Tails about for the last few weeks, but they stay away for the 40 lb test lines, after one apparently boomeranged off of it. There is a tall pole in the center of the orchard, and those lines are strung from it, to my 8 foot tall fence a foot apart.

That is so cool! Can you design me something to keep the poachers out of my woods?

Those are some good looking chicks. So you didnt loose your pair? You found them. I am thinking I missed something. Good job on the protection. Looks like it was lot of work but what at great free range area.

Thanks Julie.

No, I lost a young K that Marc sent me, and a young pullet who was in with him. Monty and Mrs. P. reside in "Stallag 19".BLess Marc. He kindly sent me another K to replace poor Portly. Now when we leave for even 15 minutes, all runs are locked. It was a human predator who got those birds.

Drum roll please .............................. Vivian and I are please to announce we have received our first shipment of buff pullets from Don Chandler. More are forth coming after this storm is over. We are going to cross these lovelies with our Large Handsome Britt Buff Rooster.

Thank you Don.:)

These young ladies hatched out the second week of August...:)

Very Nice SISI. VIVI

I almost forgot my most recent hatch on 10/24 ! !5 chicks, 4- 100% EBO, and 1- 50 % EBO taken this afternoon. I can tell them apart only by feeling rthe density of the EBOs down. Lots more to come in the next 3 weeks. Can you tell them apart? The SOP chick is the one on the far right !
