The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

boo boo the english Orp, sorry about the poor photo quality..He hears a hawk..funny they know the difference in bird calls and act accordingly, they all ran to the barn..I think Blue Jays can sound a lot like hawks but they seem to know the difference. We had to use some cinder blocks to make sure things didnt fly away in the noreaster..

Baby feathers falling off everywhere...He is built for this cold weather like a wooley mammoth..he doesnt seem bothered in the least..out flying around the yard this morning..

Boos freind Cole.....Cole doesnt have enough of his own feathers to preen, he helps boo boo out with his too..I often catch him preening neck and head feathers on other birds..

It was cold out so Changed waters, fed and back inside..

Every time you post a picture of Boo Boo he is changing! He's getting big. I don't remember Cole. Glad Boo Boo has a friend. The black one (Cole or Max) is gorgeous! He's bejeweled in green. Wow. Very nice boys Lynne. I have a Max too.

I lost my first 2 developing Jubilee eggs from my flock due to a defective wafer thermostat. They were due to hatch in 5 days. I'm sad about this. But, I still have 5 more developing in another incubator that are due to hatch in 2 weeks. I have 10 more eggs to set tonight. I also cooked 14 developing chocolate bantams as well. Stuff happens. I am planning to add and additional thermostat to my incubators for backup to prevent this from happening. My Jubilee eggs should start getting better fertility since I trimmed their feathers where it counts most.

I only wish that I had done this about 4 dozen eggs ago. Shame on me.

Do you all think this girl just wanted to be in the picture? I can't remember if I have posted this pic in this thread, but I think her expression is so comical.

I had bad luck too, but now i have GQF and i love them.

Thank Lynne! Interesting that they are showing the yellowish gold instead of the reddish gold that is more prominently shown in Europe. In the Netherlands they favor the former and Germany and France favors the latter. When they are standardized here I hope the breeders/judges allow a range.

Bob Follows has told me that the UK GL have Buff and Blue in their lines. Demler in Germany has told me that they stay away from the diluters.

They are all beautiful!

Off to bed, I'm pretty sure I have the flu.

Here's my Max. He's always doing the "you want a piece of me" dance around the "underlings" when I'm around.
