THank you!! I was wrong. As usual hahaha. So it's the split to chocolate that is what I was thinking of, not the product of a pure black to chocolate. Thanks! It was my understanding that the blacks from a breeding like that might or might not be split for the choc. gene, that test breedings had to be done to be sure. Or do I have that wrong? Or maybe I'm totally speaking out of turn and test breedings have already been done.
Nonetheless, he's Beautiful!!
Here is the info that I have on the Chocolate gene. Look to the lower right corner of the page and it is the Windows Document link. I think everyone will enjoy this. http://www.ramsleyorpingtons.com/#!__large-fowl-chocolate-orpington
There is some in the orp club that started this like 2 year ago. Breeding a choc bantam male to std black females. I know some had to AI to get fertile eggs. Don't how it's going, but I would think it would be slow getting the size back like it needs to be.THank you!! I was wrong. As usual hahaha. So it's the split to chocolate that is what I was thinking of, not the product of a pure black to chocolate. Thanks!
So sorry. Those are some beauties you have thereI lost my first 2 developing Jubilee eggs from my flock due to a defective wafer thermostat. They were due to hatch in 5 days. I'm sad about this. But, I still have 5 more developing in another incubator that are due to hatch in 2 weeks. I have 10 more eggs to set tonight. I also cooked 14 developing chocolate bantams as well. Stuff happens. I am planning to add and additional thermostat to my incubators for backup to prevent this from happening. My Jubilee eggs should start getting better fertility since I trimmed their feathers where it counts most.I only wish that I had done this about 4 dozen eggs ago. Shame on me.![]()
Do you all think this girl just wanted to be in the picture? I can't remember if I have posted this pic in this thread, but I think her expression is so comical.
