The inevitable humidity question, day before lockdown, help please!

I read somewhere, and it may be complete rubbish, that the very dark egg layers lay less often because the pigmenting of the egg takes more energy??
Hmmm....maybe, but other birds also have a lower rate of lay....like my light brahma did.

Is this place the big nesting box in the sky??
She was on that list, but a local buddy's wife likes to hatch a lot, so that's where she went.

The BCM's in my experience are not the most prolific layers. I get, I would guess, 5 eggs a week. It would be interesting to see if your lighter color layer delivers more eggs than the darker ones. I’m actually anxious to get home today to see what’s in there. :D
I also got the new nest box installed in the CLs pen, so hopefully I see some blue ones soon too!
(I must be crazy wanting more eggs, I get more than I can use already! Lol)

I need more all the time to try to keep up with my buyers! i am going to have to increase my coop/nesting box space, darn!! And then of course, I am going to need more chickens..... :wee
On a completely different note, I am sitting here with one of my newest chicks, Chai, in my lap after I discovered she had managed to escape her "growing on" box to the BIG SCARY outside where she was terrified by something. I found her hunched up under a bush and she has now spent the last hour snuggled up in a warm towel being fed scrambled egg. She is quite happy, stands up and preens every now and then but goes nowhere, just lays back down and goes to sleep again. Sheesh, I remember these days with my sons, total trust knowing that nothing bad is going to happen! Love it!:love:love:love

I would think so...but I like any 'hard numbers'...don't count(haha!) on them.

Better get her back with her hatch mate, before you can't!

Ha, I was just having that conversation with her! She looked up at me and stretched and said 'OK!' and off we went. She hopped right back in with the hatch mates and never looked back. :hmm

You need pics of the next chickens, eh??? Well, OK probably not until next spring.... but there WILL be more. Of course, I am not going to be able to match your 100 plus. No wonder you have too many eggs!!:gig
