The inevitable humidity question, day before lockdown, help please!

aart those eggs are beautiful! My BCMxCCL have put their brakes on for some reason. I haven't had an egg out of either one of them for 3 days now! Had an old hen drop dead yesterday! She laid me a nice pinky egg but had stopped a while ago.

Well, I found a broken/eaten egg in the CL's run this morning. I don't think it was there last night when I closed up the ducks, after the CL's had gone in for the night. We've had a bunch of rain and the CL pen got a little wet. I'm hoping one of the girls accidentally knocked it out of the nest box, it broke, and they ate it.... oh please, don't let me have an egg eater.... :(

Was the shell still there...and hard?
I always check the nests when I lock up after dark...
....and the floor and boards if new pullets are just starting to lay.
Hopefully it was a one off glitch:fl

Yep, the shell was there and hard... and empty. A nice quarter-of-the-egg hole chipped in it. Definitely had been pecked and eaten. :(

Hmmm.... any chance it was rodent?
Not better but....<shrugs>

Actually I thought of that. We have very small field mice, I have never seen large rodents/rats, other than squirrels and chipmunks etc. I'm still pretty sure it wasn't there last night. Being on the ground, I could have overlooked it. It definitely wasn't in the box last night.

Oooh, this evening I'll check my security cam video and see if it picked up anything.

Well, ask and ye shall receive I guess! I got two eggs from my BCMxCCL girls today, nice size too, no more pullet eggs! I also got shocked by my electric fence today :eek::eek:HOLY COW that thing almost blew me over backwards. Thats what happens when you are being distracted by hummingbirds whilst climbing over the electric fence carrying the harvest basket and you couldn't be bothered to turn the fence off till you finished harvesting the fruit!! The hair on my head definitely feels weird!!:th
