The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

Getting 3 or 4 KCs tomorrow! I can't wait! I love these pictures!
I'm just curious, why do Some ducks have crests and others of the same breed don't?
Yay!

Its a genetic mutation, or a fault really, in which there is a gap in the skull that causes feathers to grow funny, kinda like the tufts on an easter egger.

Bills vs Beaks knows their stuff! In the book mentioned, Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks, it says, "Ducks that carry the crest allele are susceptible to neurological abnormalities (which may be apparent at hatching time or not until months later) and to skeletal deformities (kinked necks, shortened bodies, roached backs, wry tails). Fortunately, the majority of Crested ducks are normal and have a life expectancy similar to that of other breeds."
Just wanted you to be aware of the risks before you purchased crested ducks.

We got our ducks! We got 4 KC females (supposed to be females) I just learned that our feed store gets their chicks and ducklings from metzer farms! We also picked up some Cinnamon Queens, welsummers and my first EEs!

I was told that you shouldn't give them unlimited access to water for the first hour since they will be really thirsty and will get bloated. Is this true? They seem to chug their water lol
As much as I would like to have a drake to breed, I've been told they can be rough with the females
