The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

Anyone know why my khaki might have this weird feather on her head?

I was thinking of getting some kc ducks. I'm in town. How loud are they. I have chickens already. Would they be alright in the same pen. Do they lay as often as chickens. I want them to earn their keep with eggs. Thanks

Khaki Campbells are great layers. One duck would likely be just fine with chickens, but a group of ducks likely will make a big old mess and your chickens won't be happy with that. Some people do it successfully, tho, but I'm not one of them. Use the search box and check in the Learning Center and you may well find the answers you're looking for. :)

I have 8 chickens and two K.C. ducks. The chickens go up to the second level of our coop to roost and the ducks stay on the lower level. They get along fine, but having the 2 ducks makes cleaning out the coop more often a must. Ducks are messy, it is their life mission to mess up any and all water they can find. Since I added the ducks I have to change the water everyday and clean the coop more often then before. That being said, I will always have a couple of ducks now. They are so cute and funny that I named them Who and Knew. I tell them "Who Knew ducks could be so fun"

okay so my Khakis are about 3 1/2 - 4 weeks now i also have 3 rouens but ill save that for the rouen thread. anyways there are some slight things you can do to tell rouens sex apart has ducklings so im wondering is there anything other than quacks to tell my Khakis sex apart at such a young age thanks in advance for the answers :)

Thanks. I use poultry nipples for water. No mess there bu I read that ducks need to wash their bill and heads. Still in the thinking phase. May or may not try to add ducks next spring when I rotate in some new birds. In town so I can't have a rooster. What about the noise level of the Campbell's

My Khakis are only loud when something alerts or scares them. One or two birds will quack loudly until they are satisfied the something is not a threat. Doesn't happen that often. It is not really that loud and not nearly as annoying as a barking dog. As my nearest neighbors are a good rifle shot away I get no complaints.
