My KC's didn't lay till 22 and 24 weeks. I only have 2, so not much to go by, but give it some time yet. Once they did start laying, I have had 2 a day and they barely miss a day.

We love our Khaki Campbells - my son got a pair for 4-H last summer. The duck has been laying all winter - outdoing our chickens!

I just wish they weren't so messy. We'll have to figure out a better set-up for next winter - it's a skating rink out there.

These two are identical to my pair! I love the coloring of my drake. I'm so happy he turned out this color. I've seen others that stayed pretty dark.

I am just doing some research and have a few questions.

I have had 2 ducks before ( In with my chickens ) and they where great, no disease, lice etc. I only had them for a short though.
1) I am just wondering, what common diseases do ducks bring?
2) Do they get lice, mites and worms?
3) What is the worst disease a duck can get and how bad is it?
4) Would having mostly ducks, but a few chickens with them be ok? The chickens would be housed separately but will free range with the ducks.

Any help is much appreciated

Perhaps the best source for information on duck diseases is Storey's Guide to raising ducks. There is a section in the book that goes into full detail on all duck ailments. You might also find a link in the Stickies link in this forum. If you keep their coop clean and provide the right food and plenty of water you shouldn't have any more issues than with your chickens. I can't really answer the duck/chicken question but many post that they keep both and house them separately. Good luck!

Is this a book? Or can it be acquired online for free?
Thank you very much for your help Carcajou

Yes, it is a book, and a very good one. I don't know if it is online for free or not. I think I paid around $15 for mine.

Here is a link you might find interesting: http://www.duckhealth.com/duckhlth.html
You might search the web for duck diseases and see what you can find.

Good luck!
