My only concern would be if you have a boy and a girl. I have heard that sometimes having just one female for a male will mean she gets picked on.
Yes, I can see where that could be a problem... I wish their was a way to sex them. We have no idea if we have 2 Hens or 2 Drakes or 1 of each :( . I am still pondering getting another one.. and Indian Runner BUT I would want to make sure it was a Hen. The place I got them at only has all babies.

Hi everyone,

I'm a completely new duck owner and loving it at the moment! I've recently got 4 ducks from a friend who was looking to offload their ducks from their newly purchased farm. I've established that the 2 white ones are definitely pekins but I'm having trouble identifying the breed of the brown ones. Can someone help me??

Thanks!

My probly kc mixes will be three months about, next month. They have gotten aggressive with the other birds on and off and they each, and as a mob, won't back down from a fight, and they'll win! they still won't go near the pond or creek, but now will play in small kiddie pool. they pretty much do own thing like dwarf bunnies bantam Americana chickens and rest. Not begging too much, but come right up at odd times and just get all under and over me. they are starting to try to fly around and can fly around low good now, but mostly still run spaztically like bowling pins on crank when freak out. I'm wondering if are mallard mix, mallard flew coop into KC pen/s..
they looked just like dark KC ducklings till hit certain age.

so one male has an olive bill.. guessing that's really bad (???), but wondering how bad for production, as i like it, as not sure about barring and rest.

I have a question. My Khaki Campbell ducklings are almost 2 weeks old. I got them a couple days ago. Right now they are very skittish and run away when I put my hand in the brooder. When I place them on my lap they calm down for a couple minutes and then freak out again. Is there a tried-and-true way to calm these ducks and get them to be comfortable with you?

Hello,
Ours are about the same age. We have a blanket when we hold them and sort of let them just settle in where they want. Yesterday was on my daughters back as you can see. They sat their for about 20 min until one of them pooped LOL Then after they got to play in the sink and have a good swim. Our also freak out when we pull them out of their pen. We just make it a point to play with them several times a day and have treats. Funny thing is they cry when you leave the pen area ( 4x4 wood box). They want us to chat with them but not handle them LOL.. just keep working with them everyday.

Thanks, that is helpful information. You mentioned treats. What treats do they like? I can't seem to get mine to eat any.
when we let them play in the sink for their swim time we put in little pieces of lettuce . They dunk, swam and nibbled it all up. We have not gotten them to eat from our hands like chicks would do. I am not sure if its a " duck thing" not to eat from your hand at this age... being new to ducks.. maybe someone else might know why they don't eat from your hand . I also make sure I have chick grit in their food area since we allowed them treats. I also sprinkle it in their food.
