I'm not exactly sure where GreenFire Farms is located? Isnt midway florida right next to orlando? For some reason i was thinking it was near tallahassee...
So here are my babies! They are almost 5 months old. I am psyched!
They are quick suckers though so hopefully if I ply them with treats they will be as excited to see me as my others are once they join the flock. Can't wait till I have the time to just sit and watch them.
I know you are soooo excited to finally have your CCLB's I also have some cutie's. I don't want to mess up your day but everyone needs to know.
I know you all are paying dearly for your birds, they should be perfect examples of the breed.
Your rooster has a floppy comb which is a very serious fault in CCLB's. Whom ever you got your birds from should send you a rooster that is perfect. Not a cull.
I love these birds and it would be a shame to breed in unwanted traits.

You know, I never looked up the standard....it says the following-
"Comb single, perfectly straight and erect, large but not overgrown, deep and evenly serrated (5 to 7 spikes broad at the base), extending well beyond the back of the head and following, without touching, the line of the head, free from "thumb marks" or side spikes. Face smooth. Ear-lobes well developed, pendant, smooth and free from folds, equally matched in size and shape. Wattles long and thin."
Eta- it did mention that the hens comb will flop...
. Not sure if that can be a factor or not?
Also wonder if housing could have influenced it? I know one of my single boys was in a cage and grew a little taller than I anticipated and as a result started holding his tail to the side. Once he got out of the cage it self corrected
. Of course I don't know what they use as growout containment so this is just an idea?
