The Legbar Thread!

Good luck Michael!

I only have one CL incubating. It was covered in dried egg yolk from an egg that broke in the nestbox. I had to wash it so I wrote "washed" across the top so I wouldn't accidental sell it. Then when I picked it up to put it in the incubator my fingernail broke through the shell. I covered the hole with packing tape and stuck it in the incubator anyway. Yep, it's developing. I hope it hatches!

Well the egg hatched and it is a boy. The other one isn't pipped yet but there is still a chance. I am happy to get anything considering the box was picked up and blown down the driveway by the crazy wind storm we had that day. Thanks again for the eggs Mary! I'll try to get pics sometime soon, we've been getting soaked by rainstorms for the last couple weeks

so I realize that I have no idea how to sex these....I know the "obvious" ones but ones like this one perplex me....and not having grown any out yet I am starting to wonder if maybe I was wrong?

the down is dark but it does have some white on the head, but not much.....what do you think, the one on the left...pullet or cockeral?

same chick

and this is the reason for my confusion....is this boy on the left a silver maybe? the chick in question is in the middle and is that another cockeral on the right?

I'm not sure either, but that silver one is pretty! I would think any kind of dot indicates male though.

Ron- I love that crest!

I hatched 2 from one hatch and three from another. The crested one came from the first hatch and the eggs were different, 1 pullet and one cockerel. The second hatch had bigger eggs and the chicks are more colorful. They are about three weeks behind, but do not have a crest like this guy.

I hope this means I have chickens from two of the Greenfire imports.

Mine were more obvious. I think cockerel, pullet cockerel. My males had an obvious roundish spot. One thing for sure, you have some of each
