So happy for you.

I had an 'a-ha' moment when I was out feeding. We have a red columbian americauna project rooster and are using him over the barred rock & silver laced wyandotte hens to make our black sexlink hens. Using him over barred rock hens will give black sexlinks that should lay green eggs. We also have some rose combed brown leghorn hens. My plan is to use a green egg laying black sexlink cockerel over the brown leghorn hens and keep the barred offspring and have a sorta American legbar type. I know they wont look alot like the UK legbars and their eggs will be more green than blue but its a project using what I have on hand. Just thought I'd share

The ones I am making wont have the cream color in them but should look similar to the basic legbar color, might have some smuttiness in them since I am using a red rooster at first. In time I plan to breed in brown leghorns again to improve laying and color. The advantage about the ones I plan on making will be the comb. The original rooster has a pea comb and the leghorn hens have smaller rose combs so I am thinking it will end up looking like a funky walnut comb, either way it shouldnt have any worries with frost bite
