The Legbar Thread!

I guess part of cream leg bar is the leg horn. I used to have a couple and they were both petite so perhaps my pullet shares more from the leghorn. I just think they are really pretty in general. I really like big birds. I eventually want to breed them but I think they have some more growing to do. I went back and added photos. Their legs are a little green too and her crest is small but she is still young so I am waiting to see how she develops. My Roo also has a little grey crest. So I am hoping I get some pretty chicks from the two.

They are pretty and very showy!! on my monitor, they leggs look bright yellow. :O)

Thanks.

The pullet definitely has a greenish hue. The roo is more yellow. It was a dark over cast day today (just after a storm and before the next rain) Everything is so pretty after a rain I love to photograph the chickens in that light.

I can't wait to see blue eggs.

I believe that's what they term "willow" and some do grow out of it as they get older is what I have read.

Legs other than orange, yellow or light willow - is what the UK SOP reads under serious defects

I don't mind saying, as I have told several other people on here where they came from...I got them on ebay from Cindylee53. She seems to run auctions pretty regularly. I do not know if she is on here or not. I posted pictures of them a while back, after they first hatched because I couldn't tell the gender of a few...which automatically raised my suspicions, I had people questions their pureness. I did email her and asked her about her breeding program. She responded that she had gotten her birds from GFF and that they were penned alone, no chance of another rooster. So I then asked her if she could help me sex a few of mine, she asked me to send pictures. I took that as a positive thing, and sent her pictures. I told her that I had other people with CL experience question them and that I was concerned about what I got. After a week, I never heard back from her. So I sent a follow up, still nothing. I have since been doing more research and have ordered eggs from Jordan Farms in hopes of getting some better birds. It is so frustrating, I guess I was too trusting. I believed that if she had spent the money to purchase the chickens from GFF that she would not cross breed them. So through this whole experience I have learned a lot, shed some tears and even had a laugh or two. It has all been a good lesson for me, but I do feel slighted. Some people on here and on other sites have been quite helpful and others not so much.

If she is on here and is lurking, I wish she would speak up and defend her birds, or at least respond to the pictures I sent her.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I will have at least one of those that will be a keeper.

Your girl might be just fine. I have talked to other people who have won her auctions and they all seem to have some great birds, so how knows...maybe she has more than one breeding pen. As I watch mine grow, I can see qualities in them and then some faults. My eggs from Jordan Farms left Georgia yesterday and according to the tracking they are in Denver, so I should have them in the morning. I can't wait to see if they hatch, what I will get and how they will compare. Fingers crossed for a good hatch!

OK, just received my call from GFF that the chicks were sent yesterday, they should arrive any time

. I ordered six girls and one boy. They told me they sent 3 boy, oh oh, extra padding! I'll make sure to post lots of pics when they arrive today. As I'm new to CLs I'll be looking for some input on the boys as they grow up as well. I'm hoping they included one from each of their "lines" and we can see the differences as they grow out.

I keep looking at my hen and I think this hen is a rooster it has saddle feathers now. So at hatch the color said hen all the way around and its comb and crest said hen but now it so looks like its a roo. My camera is waiting for the batteries to charge. So Im thinking Ive been had also.. I'll get pic's as soon as its charged up.

How old is it?

Edited to add: I hit submit before I was done...

My little boys started crowing about 2 weeks ago...well they make screeching sound and flap their wings with their chest out....they try to match my BLRW roo. It is funny...but my point is, they are quite young and don't have any saddle feathers yet coming in, but I can for sure who is a boy by the comb size and color and the screeching.

Uh oh. Looks like all girls to me! Someone forgot the boys, lol. I called them and it was handled right away, they'll be shipping out the boys next week. Here's a couple of pics of the girls.
