The Legbar Thread!

In spite of his faults, I think he is adorable .
Thank you on his behalf. He has an appealing personality. Will munch off lettuce and mealworms out of hand (his father was too --- roosterish for that sort of behavior)---
Glad your flocks are combined (sometimes that makes life easier) -- It would be neat to see pictures. ;O)

Knew I must have been missing something. Thought you may have been talking about my roo but your comment didn't make sense to me, thanks for clarifying

I am so excited about the meeting tomorrow morning, looking forward to it.

Trish
Hi Trish, your white roo (in the background) is a very nice one. He has a better tail angle than my critters--- all my chickens have upright tails (there's something in the water here I think)

Pictures of them all together, please
Just got some pictures, so here you go!

This is Thursday (cream hackles) and Midnight with gold hackles and Arnold the proud father with Jasper (off spring in the back ground.

Jasper

The pullets are a little hard to tell apart. One is Alice and the other is Bella

Apparently Edward is afraid to go outside but he has more chestnut than his brother Jasper.

Another look at Hens Midnight and Thursday.

Thank you for posting...they are BEAUTIFUL!

Oh my gosh, x2! Love the coloring of Alice and Bella especially. You must have watched Twilight!

The British SOP is for yellow legs, yes? How big a fault are willow legs? I know it's possible to breed out, but I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble when some already have nice yellow shanks.

LOL, I have a 12year old who named the chicks. Jacob, Renesme, Rosalee and Emmet were sold to a fellow enthusiast, Tom,who took them to Whidbey island.

Their legs are more yellow than appears in the pictures. Considering how much gold is in the original parents, I am thrilled that the offspring are lighter in he hackles. As they say, one thing at a time.

The cream is so lovely.. Your birds legs look nice and yellow on my screen. No hint of willow at all from what I can tell. I have a few with some tinges of willow though as well as some that are the proper yellow. I'm more worried about type really, but it's hard to ignore the colors, at least for me. Definitely want to build the barn first though, I agree.

I remember reading about the group that was sold. Very sweet names. It makes them memorable, especially if you've seen the movies.

I have a coming 3 month old roo that also has the crooked comb - he has a huge pullet-like crest as well, I am sure that is the reason for the comb being crooked, but he is going to have to go.

All 5 of my November hatchlings have bright yellow legs. One of the two pullets, however, is crestless. Too bad she did not get her brother's crest!
