Yes, I'm going to grow him out. I'm intrigued by his color. This was his daddy as a day old. His daddy was a very light chick with some tan and a lot of blue, a little bit of yellow.

I'm way behind on the various Legbar threads. I need to go read the standard. Aren't we looking to keep the lightest cockerels and the darkest pullets? I think he qualifies as a light colored chick. The eggs I set for this hatch ranged from 70 to 75 grams. It was a very bad hatch, but I got this chick so I'm still happy.

Does anyone have an opinion on this chick? I know everyone was saying the very dark chicks with head spots are boys but this chick has a small head spot and eye stripes. I just hatched it yesterday and I'm not sure what to think...

looks like he could be homozygous. these chicken genetics are new to me. the horses I can tell with reasonable out comes. What the cute little yellow ones

Homozygous? What does that mean? Is that good or bad?

(The yellow chicks are Sulmtalers. The one top center with a head spot is a splash SFH.)

I dont think we have determined the correlation between chick and adult coloration yet, so keeping track of your various chicks, both tagging them and with progression photos, will help see if there is a correlation and if there is what kind.

Just took this photo of a pair of two week old male chicks. One was blonde and the other dark at hatch. They are the two to the far right in the picture. The dark chick (furthest right) has much more distinct markings on his wings than the blonde one. They most likely have different mommas.

I just hatched this boy. What do you think? I haven't seen one like this before.

the SOP calls for a slate grey male chick down, I see this to be a shade lighter than that. I would say he is going to turn out to be nearly silver when adult. PLEASE keep us updated on his progress.
