The Legbar Thread!

would there be any interest in Cream Legbar Eggs from Reputable breeders in UK sent to USA

I am considering setting up an export scheme from what I know so far this is the rules

Effective as of Aptil 15th 2013
There are a few reasons that this probably wouldn't work -- Not trying to throw a wet blanket on your idea, but we have found that 1. Hatchability is very time-sensitive, 2. Shipped eggs have a lower hatching rate.

The damage to the eggs and the cost of shipping would probably exceed any value-added for trying to get eggs from UK to USA via shipment.

I have purchased plastic coops and runs from Omlet in the UK and the shipping damage is really pretty serious by the time the boxes get to the USA. You would be having your customers spend a great deal of money for very few eggs (if any) that would hatch. JMO.

I have a question. This weekend I hatched my first CL chicks. 5 chicks. 1 didn't make it.
Out of the 4 left, one is a white. Is that a bad thing? Or does this just happen every so often?

They just happen, most people call them a "sport" Cream Legbar. They are still sexable. Can you see the head and back stripe on this female while CL?

This is a different white female, but you can see the head stripe better.

Anyone else hatch any chicks that look silver? I will try to get some pics today of the mystery chick. It came from my legbar pen, hatched from a gorgeous blue egg, and it is clearly a silver chick, the down color is the same as my silver phoenix chicks. On the plus side, it doesn't have a spot on the head so at least it is a lady.

Rinda,
The chick in the peeps box is almost exactly what it looks like except the head is not as dark.
I will post pics as soon as I can, maybe this evening so you can help me on sexing.

no your not throwing a wet blanket at all

but I know I can get a HMS Vet stamp on my flock which is a requirement and the permit im sure wont be too hard to get

once I have that then its a choice of the buyer how they want it

there are many ways to obtain eggs then as there is no quarantine

so it can be posted and there is a next day to USA service and will be like next day UK to UK postage (yes its expensive but in a sense worth it)

or a USA visitor can get eggs to take back in hand luggage as they will have been HMS Stamped and a permit cert provided

or I can take them into USA myself when I visit as I am planning a VISIT this year

there are many ways
