The Legbar Thread!

Hi. Thank you for the wonderful discussion. I have ordered my first CL hatching eggs and I guess I chose well as the person I ordered from has more grey than copper in her birds.

The eggs aren't ariving until November as the owner is planning a trip and will be driving not far from my home. Waiting allows me to meet her rather than ship eggs. I look forward to learning more from you all.

Here are two cockerels with different barring on the neck, chest and back. One is a legbar, the other a Basque. The roosters of these two breeds are strikingly similar, while the hens are completely different - a great example of how genes may cause very different genotypes to appear similar phenotypically

In this pic, the basque is on the top, the legbar on the bottom - you can see the dark barring over the neck.

Here the basque is on the right, the legbar on the left, for the barring on the chest

And here, basque again on the right, legbar on the left, showing the barring over the saddle feathers.

You can clearly see this cockerel's pronounced wry tail - the reason he is in the cull pen, as otherwise I like him quite a lot.

Basque are Columbian wheaten with Sexlinked Barring.. the wheaten gene makes them None autosexing

No young legbar
I hope he is a cross of Legbar and Leghorn, as he clearly is heterozygous for Barring and Cream.....

do you know who are his parents? not saying he is a cross or mutt, but he is clearly single barred.. and heterozygous cream

from this pic you can see the melanized secondaries(not completely black as crow wing), we can learn from this Heterozygous male

Perhaps you should limit your criticism of other colors to the Cream Legbar thread, as you seem to have a vision of the Creams that you share with some others, while some are not totally convinced that you are correct. While it is often confusing to try to keep up on 2 separate legbar threads, maybe having one dedicated to the creams as grey.silver coloring another to discussion of other colors, which you seem to find distasteful, would work for all of us.
Im sry to be offending you its seems you find my post to be distasteful.
