The Legbar Thread!

I must admit that your post disheartens me greatly. I'm so sorry, but this is not how the American Poultry Association works, and threatening them or us will not change the rules. A standard without detailed description reflecting that of the PCGB is not an option for us. If you need to leave the club, then I understand, but it will sadden me greatly to see members leave because they don't understand the process of getting an existing breed accepted by the APA. I wish you the best in all your future endeavors! Perhaps we will meet one day should you choose to stick with the Cream Legbar or pursue the first color variety. Again, best wishes!
My opinion differs from HapplessRunner but i didn't read a threat in his post at all. Not to the apa or the club. Also i didn't see him mentioning that he was leaving or that he was not understanding the process of getting the breed accepted. All i seen was someone Stat that they had an opinion that they would stick to. Just because someones opinion might be different than yours it doesn't make it a threat unless you see yourself and your opinion as being bible. If the SOP ends up different maybe he would leave the the club but that would have to have allot of assumptions maid at this point for you to say that. Seems like there was allot of negative assumptions maid on your part. Maybe this is why his post so disheartens you.. I think that he believed the Cream legbar club was a democracy which i don't believe it is. I'm sure the board will take all the input that they can get,but overall will make the final decisions.

I had the same problem when i voiced my opinion about color with muttsfan> I think me and you agree on color but hear goes mutts telling me i should only post on the Cream legbar page. its kinda ridiculous to get so worked up that people take such offense over a different point of view. Keep in mind I'm making this point because this is something that I've had to learn and work on with my own feelings from time to time so since im learning this I'm just passing on the thought. Also at the end of his post he mentions that a decision should just be maid and people move on. that just seems like someone who's frustrated with endless run around. If you guys want to hijack the legbar thread which to me was always a laid back place to post pics and talk about small stuff or stories of the farm and what not. then go ahead make a decision and start calling them a American legbar and go with it. I'm sure some will stop working on cream and some wont. people will go to the the cream or stay hear.

My thoughts on all this stay off the thread is this. The working group is where discussions go on for stuff like this. hot topics things to be debated. The cream legbars thread was more refined talking about the cream birds we have and are working on. And the legbar thread was a place to relax and share most anything it didn't matter if you had creams or golds it was just an accepting place. Maybe these types of color talks shouldn't be on here at all muttsfan. this seems like a working group discussion.

I think Punnett just left out the fact that double Barring would dilute a true Cream colored Leghorn to a faded Silver looking bird... have you seen the Cream light brown leghorn? they are called cream not because they have the cream gene, the Cream Light Brown Leghorn is called that way because they LOOK Cream right?... how would a bird that is called Cream remain True to color if were to be Diluted even further by Homozygous Barring?,

Do we need a Kumbaya moment?

Some of you are organized enough to post different things in different threads. I go to "my profile" at the top right of the page and just see what is new since I was last on and deal with the posts I haven't seen yet.

Do we all need to chill.... If Tru started a thread to talk about color -- then color talk can all move there.
Let's not take offense if we can - especially where none is meant. -- It could be that the road takes a fork and some folks will pursue an "American Legbar" - and I see no reason why it isn't a living-breathing chicken and if it meets the qualifications it could go into an application for the APA. Should the bird actually be that divergent.

I think we need one single thread... OR Clear the SOP thread and leave it to that... I do the same as you do to check the new posts.... but it seems like you and I are posting about the same on different threads... how weird uh?
