The Legbar Thread!

I took a bunch of pictures of my 2 CL pullets today and thought I would share to see what you all think. THey are 15-17weeks old now. I have had them for 5 weeks now and they have changed so much. Their pale legs and beaks have gotten much more yellow and the salmon breasts were so dull before but they have really brightened up. Let me know what you all think of them. *warning pic overload lol

Pullet 2 (she is much harder to get pics of)

Hey Chicken Picken!

Are these two Blackbirds13's chicks? They are a really nice start of a flock for you. It looks like the first one has a better tail angle than the second. I really like that their wings are neatly tucked up. There is a little bit of uneven barring on the tail of the first one. It will be very interesting how that looks after they go through their next molt. You could get nit-picky about things but they are still young and maturing and honestly, I think you got a lucky pair here with these girls! I can't remember, do you have a boy lined up for them?

Beautiful girls chicken pickin! I can't wait to see how they grow up and fill in! Especially nice crests and tail angles. Would you please keep an eye on the feathers that display mottling? I'm wondering if they will grown back in the same on their next set of feathers or blend in like one of my girls did. I have a few juvies with similar marks. Best wishes!

Yes they are her chicks and I think they are wonderful. I do have a boy for them.
He is 8months old I took this pic last week.

Rinda, How many eggs did you set?
Can't remember, the move has made everything a blur.... I think about 12, the molting has really reduced their fertility, I think I pulled out 4 clears and 2 were early quitters.

Not a bad start! And your girls are lovely!

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments on the pullets. Blackbirds13 has put in a lot of effort with her stock and it shows, these 2 were part of her cull group so if these 2 are nice you can only imagine what her keepers look like. At this age with them the only thing that was concerning me also is the uneven barring. I will keep you all update on how they molt and if the barring gets better or worse.

I think ill do some test with this roo. He was my lightest chick of the year. His grey was always twice as light as any any of the other roos. Even the creams were not as light as him.

Aloha kākou,

Personally, I feel that everyone is going for rooster coloring that is too white. White is not cream. Cream is a yellowish white, not white white. While looking at the cream legbar club site, pictures section, Diane McDonaldʻs roo on slide #9 is what I consider cream. Donʻt you folks want some color on your birds? Even the saddle or wing triangle stuffs should have color. Like brown even.

just my 2 cents.

So here are my guys. The rooster on the left in the first picture is a week younger then the other rooster. The young one is about 5 weeks and the older one is around 6 weeks. I love the crest on the hen in the second picture.

Here is my young Roo hatched from madamwlf I have sold all the hens as I have hens from other breeders, but am keeping the two roos from the madam, that white gene is most amazing!! I LOVE THEM BOTH! Thank you MADAMWLF!!! So glad I won that new years hatchalong contest!!

He is so handsome! I really like his body type and his tail angle. The white is very pretty. What are you plans with him?
