The Legbar Thread!

Wonder if it was the eye worm thread I wrote. Here is how VetRX would help with eye worm. It would help to wash it out..probably drown the eye worm because it is a bit oily and viscous..is that the word?? I sent to the Phillipines for a product that kills the eye worm how ever, and relied on that. It is called oxy Rid if memory serves. Never the less there are directions in VetRx to treat eye worm. I suspect that multiple treatments would be in order.

No it wasn't your post referred in the article. I was a little surprised at the author's tone- named the poster, quoted her liberally, and quite literally shamed and beat down all of her opinions mercilessly. I was very glad it wasn't my post. Regardless of how ignorant she was or seemed to be in her posts I thought the article was rather tackily written...

The vasiline forms a waterproof seal on the skin.

I burned my right forefinger 2/3rds of the length of it along the side about 30 years ago. It was a 3rd degree burn. Most of the year you cannot tell until wintertime when the cold and the dryness affect it. Then it can get red/chapped and scaly and sometimes cracks and bleeds. I found that using emu oil or coconut oil kept that from happening. It also keeps my whole hands warmer. You can get the coconut oil in a thick Vaseline like ointment. It is in the haircare items because it is most often used for treating super dry hair.

I believe the article was meant to show you shouldn't believe everything that you find on the internet or on forums and I must say, I agree with the author.

I will have to try to get the article. Do I understand that the BYC poster said VetRx would cure eyeworm, and the article said it would not, or vice versa?
I think it was more about how you can't believe what is posted in the net and this individual's post was completely off. But it did say at some point that VetRx really wasn't a cure for eyeworm. The individual who posted the thread on BYC stated their chicks came from a hatchery with eyeworm and infected their flock. They gave quite a bit of info that pointed away from eyeworm being the cause and they named the hatchery. Basically they trashed the hatchery for an illness that this individual's chicks did not have. The article gave the first name of the person but not their username and I thought it was a good article. It shows how some people can have no knowledge of something and the damage that can be inflicted by that lack of knowledge.

OK thanks for clearing that up...
Whenever I have a flock emergency, the first place I look is BYC! Like the other day, when I accidentally cracked an egg in the incubator...:0(
But I'm sure you have some knowledge of what's good info to use and what's not. Some really don't and would take that information as gospel.

That is true, and anyone should use common sense. Everything is anecdotal to a degree, but there is a ton of info on here that can save a chickens life and health...give the chicken owner peace of mind, and at least open the door to taking action, and not feeling totally helpless when facing a flock emergency. I suppose every thing has the understood preface. IMO in front of it.
