The Legbar Thread!

Absolutely, PM me anytime. If you get a chance to share some pictures, we'd love to see how yours are feathering out. Be sure and note which down colors grow into which adult birds, with pictures would be even better!

An update for the few that are interested

I have joined Aphis and Level 1 is approved and awaiting Level 2 approval

the cost of inspection at port is $80 per consignment of eggs so any amount can be brought in

once my level 2 is approved I will apply for the permit and then next year I should be able to bring in Eggs

Cost I have not determined yet but I think this will be great so that green fire chicks can be mated back to mine and help keep inbreeding at bay

although my goal is to breed 2 separate breed lines and sell eggs from both so that a single keeper can breed my birds back to each other without worry of inbreeding

Keep me on your list of those interested. I hope this can work out.

Burns me up that people steal pictures.... I knew I'd have to deal with it eventually but....

Someone is using my beautiful pullet to sell their CL pullets on RareBreedAuctions. Grrr... I'm hoping a stern message will fix it and I don't have to take legal action. Guess I've put off watermarking my photos too long.
Ugh! That stinks.

I know I need to start watermarking my photos, too.

It has the wild-type down, but several breeds have that (Welsummers and BBR old english game banties come to mind but there are others). Can you give us any info on where you got the chick that might help us narrow it down? Is it a large fowl chick or a bantam chick?

It's a bantam it came from a local farm in uk my sons nursery hatched them out and we brought 3 chicks home with us we have 2 polish and this mystery one

Aloha kakou,

I live n Kailua, O'ahu, Hawai'i. Does anyone know a reputable breeder who can send cream legbar eggs to Hawai'i. Or could we bring eggs on the plane from Los Angeles? Mahalo nui, Puhi
Welcome to the BYC forum and the Cream Legbar thread. Some folks have expressed success in taking eggs as carry on luggage and they may weigh in with you. Having traveled LAX a lot, they are kind of a no-nonsense airport....so any pre-arrangements you could make with TSA may help your eggs to avoid the baggage scanners etc. and have them hand carried through inspection - but it is a risk. There are California breeders of CL chickens - San Diego and Northern CA come to mind. -- Hopefully some one will chime in and be near your destination to get fertile eggs in your hands.

Check with every authority that you can and see if you can get clearance letters from the officials. Good luck - hope you find a way.
