The Legbar Thread!

She was definitely still a pullet in that pic but already laying for me

She still has that nice tiny comb and I'm hoping her offspring will have the same. My oldest girl from her is about 3 months old now

All my other ladies though have the typical large floppy comb so I have just been concentrating on her.

Here is my current roo- aside from that white feather in his tail (that aggravates the heck out of me

) I don't think he looks too bad

Well he's the best I have to work with anyway lol.

That's so funny.... I really like the white sickle (or part white as the case is)--- I think it adds a lot to the look - and this may be some comfort--- It seems that the white sickles get molted out from time to time--- and then the tail is all dark - (Like a snowshoe hare--- those are the ones that are white in winter and brown in summer)

Lol now I understand why the white just seemed to pop up. One day I think his tail is great and then the next I'm staring at a white feather scratching my head thinking when the heck did that happen lol.

I read in the SOP that the white is allowed but it just looks so out of place to me- especially being only 1/2 white

Will he always have the white or is it just a maturity thing?

IMO - it will be there once he reaches that maturity and has fully adult plumage. -- It will molt out from time-to-time and be missing---and then it will grown back in --- sorry.... i have this little collection of white sickle feathers --- and I think someday it will be in a hat.... White at the base and barred on the ends.

Schedule the shows, and photos when it has molted out - .....It doesn't show up until the rooster is fully adult I think...and it is a sign of being mature...little ones don't have white to my knowledge.

I'll bet that there is a range---
I have a 9-week old that has had a red comb for a couple weeks now. He may be a bit precocious -

A bit out of focus - but this was shot June 19th and hatch day was April 21

He's in the center here - and it was taken June 15th - He was hatched April 21....

the reason I'm asking is I have 2 pure CLB and one mix. I was told that the auto sexing doesn't work on the mix?? I was waiting for a comb to turn or something. Does anyone know anyone know about this?? Thanks

How old is the mixed bird and do you know what it's parents were?
