The Legbar Thread!

And if no one pips by end of day tomorrow I would do a float test before deciding to keep incubating them or not. Good luck and keep the humidity high

Thanks, I have it at 70ish right now and I did a quick candle of them, one I could tell was dead, one was trying to internally pip the other 5 were iffy. I've had horrible luck with shipped eggs this year!!

No action, only 2 out of 9 hatched??? Not sure what went wrong? All were great at lockdown. I will leave them in for another day or so but I don't have my hopes up

I also have terrible luck with hatching CCL. I have some developing now........waiting to see what happens.

I don't know what is causing the problems. Sex-link, Araucana and CCL crosses put in the incubator at the same time are all hatching when they make it to lock down.

My chickens are wormed, are fed a fermented All Flock feed, have water at all times. I am stumped :(

Last year my hatch rate was great with all different breeds. This year has really been difficult, granted they are all shipped eggs so that's a negative from the start. I hope you have a great hatch!

NONE of the shipped eggs this year have hatched. I am done with shipped eggs......

But the eggs I was talking about all came from my hen house.....
Makes me wonder if the PO is doing something different this year (x-rays, etc..) than last year?? I will have to find a local breeder for my eggs. I can't have Roos so I can't hatch my own. I have 8 silkie eggs due out today and all were good at lockdown and these are in a different incubator than CLB. I see no action what so ever!

I have noticed more delays this year. It used to be that everything to D.C./MD/VA was 1 day because of the government offices. A box of chicks would be dropped off at 5pm in Florida and arrive at my Post Office at 7am the next morning. Now it is taking several days. I think they must be consolidating routes and shipments to save money. With shipped eggs, I have been getting mixed results. One shipment was 11 out of 12 hatched (shipped from NJ to MD). Another was 1 out of 12 hatched (shipped from TN to MD).
