You might want to contact Meyer Hatchery and let someone know. Ongoing breeding of these 'on the fence' birds won't help the breed. BTW, I really like both these birds and love the olive egger idea!

Thank you they are both beautiful. I agree with you and will let Meyer know I don't mind having two more cockerels, I have plenty of ladies but sexing these birds should be a lot easier then waiting till they are 6 weeks.

Couldn't agree more. That's the whole point about CLs - -auto-sexing blue egg layers. I'm ordering some from a guy in Virginia who is supposed to have some extremely nice birds. Going to try and keep those really strong auto sexing strains going!

My least favorite seems to be working on a lot of comb. After he bit me twice and "spurred" me, I'm not very happy with him. You can see him on the left.

x2 sounds like a good time for him to go. Hopefully your other two will have sweet dispositions.

Have to say that the best disposition Cream Legbar male on my place had a father who was culled because he was just plain mean. -- go figure that one -- it defies the 'mean-is-hereditary' theory. something in the wiring of his brain left his father's meanness out.

I had multiple roosters on the place last year, all sired by my people aggressive Andi. I definitely don't think it is a 100% guarantee. None were/are aggressive. I have 2 of his sons left. Just needed to make room and add to the freezer. Nothing personal.

So, what does everyone think of my cockeral? He's about 6 months old now. How can you tell if he has 1 or 2 barring genes? I know his legs are the wrong color, but I found out the breeder has a strange group of birds. Some birds have tiny single combs and some have large. Some are white legged and others were yellow. Even the crests were off, some were super bushy while some were non existent. Is there a possibility my roo and hen could make yellow legged chicks? Both have white legs but I have no idea who the parents were :-/

Were their legs always white? None of my birds have legs that white but it does seem like their legs fade quickly...even before they start laying. My birds started as a mix of lines and the birds with the most color (the opposite of the trend toward lighter birds) have had the best leg color. It also seems like the birds with the smaller (or non existent) crests were larger and more robust. There are so few lines in the U.S. that this might just represent differences in those first few Greenfire lines but as I try and move toward a more cohesive look over a few generations it will be interesting to see if the size and if leg color remains difficult. I have a new, unrelated rooster and I haven't seen any of his chicks yet so I'm curious to see what I get. The new rooster has better cream, a bigger crest and his legs are darker yellow but my old rooster had a straighter comb and a better tail angle (but most of my new pullets are his daughters). If you are just getting started you may as well start with a really nice rooster as they are cheap and plentiful enough and will represent 50% of the DNA of all your chicks. It's hard to tell from those photographs but unless those birds are really spectacular except for leg color and all your pullets are unrelated with really good leg color I'd probably just be on the lookout for another rooster.

He has too much gold on his saddle feathers
Way too much on the top of his wing
And he has gold in his crest which you wouldent
Usually have that in the crest
