The Legbar Thread!

Go to Craigslist Roanoke VA, put in Cream Legbars and you will find the gentleman that I recently purchased some Biels from. They are doing great and this person has been very helpful and honest. Send him a quick e-mail and see what he has!

All my chickens love these potted citrus trees. I find the Bielefelders there all the time and yesterday a Blue Marans pullet laid her first egg in one of the pots.

Kinda hoping someone with Cream legbar experience can help sex one of my chicks. I received 2 legbar chicks in an assortment from Meyer hatchery, one of them has been 100% cockerel from day one but this other one has had me very confused it is very dark compared to Hans ( my cockerel) quit a bit smaller and looked very chipmunky as a day old but all of a sudden at 6 weeks it has developed a very large comb and wattles. All the pictures I have seen has shown pullets with small combs so I'm just not sure what sex this one is.

Here's one of them together.

Sorry, but he's a boy too... at that age a female would have salmon coloring coming in on her breast... and the boys have that very prominent gray and white barring...

Thats kinda what I figured. Thank you, now I have to decide if I'm gonna get rid of one or talk my husband into letting me keep them both. I do have some welsummers that would make beautiful olive egger babies.

You might want to contact Meyer Hatchery and let someone know. Ongoing breeding of these 'on the fence' birds won't help the breed. BTW, I really like both these birds and love the olive egger idea!
