This is just because they are new to the US. Prices will come down as more people get them. Hopefully they will always be in demand because of their unique qualities like blue eggs and autosexing. Some new breeds to the US market command high prices in the beginning, then end without any interest at all.
Thought i would post some pictures of my pair since they are getting older. Still no eggs yet, and my rooster still isnt crowing. But i think they are both getting close
Sunnydale, those are some big feet on that chick! She is adorable.
I have been keeping an eye on this thread because of an interest in jaerhons, and was struck by the similarities between the two breeds. Wonder what a little cross-breeding project would produce...

I think I have 14 or 15 right now. They went in the incubator as they were laid so I should have one hatch everyday theoretically. This first one was early though, wasn't due until today.
I just saw the oddest thing. I have two Cream Legbar roos, one is several weeks and quite a bit smaller than the other. This morning the little one sneaked up on a full sized Welsummer while she was drinking water, grabbed her by the head and tried to mate her! She put a beatdown on him he is likely to never forget! As is was watching, I was thinking it was the older roo until I looked over and saw him standing in the doorway to the coop. I hope this doesn't mean the little guy is going to be obnoxious and mean!
