The Legbar Thread!

I am still debating on which route I want to go, try to get a started pair or get day old chicks. Has anyone else gotten extra chicks when ordering? I am thinking about getting a day old pair then some other cheap breed to fill the 6 chick minimum and still be under my budget.

Thought i would post some updated pictures of my legbar pair.
Here is the hen which i am still patiently waiting on to lay some eggs.

Here is the rooster. He still hasnt even started crowing yet and he should be around 5 months old.

2 males, 2 females. Im almost as far away from them as possible in the N.W. so I think I'm lucky everyone made it. I wouldn't count on extras, I just thought it was nice of them to send them. They will definetely be getting future business from me. I could not believe it when I found a third chick in the box marked as a female. I did quite the happy dance! I'm feeling a little anxious about having such expensive chicks though, good thing I didn't order any Bresse or I might have to move into the barn!

He finally crowed!!! One of my boys finally crowed today. About time too. They are only 20 weeks old. And I do believe he is doing his job with at least one of the hens. Heard one of them screaming their "Get off me" scream today. I have one hen that is getting wattles and reddening up nicely.

At what age did everyone's hens start laying?

YEAH!!!! My hen just laid an EGG!!!!
Now i am going to collect the eggs and stick them in the incubator!!!

Hope they are fertile
