The Legbar Thread!

If you read the information on cream legbars in the UK you will notice that their "standard" is not what we have here in the US. Are we doing our own thing with the more brightly colored birds or trying to duplicate theirs? I think for the most part we all got ours from the Greenfire imports. Makes me wonder if those imported birds were some of the ones the UK breeders are discussing where they have too much gold and orange. Any thoughts?

Hi Keith,

would love to follow this link...but pulled the plug on facebook account some long time ago, and don't want to re-up to fb.  Is there a non-facebook way to see the info?  (like a web page or something?)  Thanks.

ChicKat, you're not alone. As well as the legbar site, there's a nonprofit organization I'd like to look at but they are on facebook only.

I really don't want to re-join.

I went out and studied my girls and of nine of them I think five would be considered good by UK standards. The other four are too orange/gold and darkly colored. I will probably re-home them to pet homes if we decide to aim for the UK standards.

To me if you don't use some standard, in the case of Cream Legbars the UK one, then what have you really got... ? another EEer ?

I did a side by side comparison of my girl on the left which I think is closer to the UK standards then the one on the right. (Click picture to enlarge)

Has anybody else joined the Cream Legbar Breeder's Group on Facebook? It's a UK based group & I think we could learn a lot from them. I just got my chicks recently, I have 4 pullets & 2 cockerels at present & they're still pretty young. I've been following this thread for awhile because I knew that I was going to get Cream Legbars & wanted to learn along the way. I have read a lot of discussions on here about the white coming out & where it's coming from. I found this link on the FB group that tells of the history of the breed & if you read down the page you find that at one point they did use white leghorns in the breeding process, so mystery solved. Here is the link: http://www.blue-eggs.co.uk/#/legbar...w.blue-eggs.co.uk/#/legbar-history/4554275782. There is also a lot of info on that site about the UK standards for the Cream Legbars.

So where do I find the US standards for the Cream Legbars?
