The Legbar Thread!

Also I posted this bowl of eggs earlier today.  The photo was taken on auto shoot.   My hens are laying a beautiful powder blue or some say sky blue egg.  There  are some contrasting colors in the photo that pop the blue up a tad.  There's the dark Welsummer and Cuckoo Maran eggs below, the bluish grey tones in the bowl, the weathered grey tone wood, and the dark green blackberry brambles below.  Thanks for the compliments, but I'm guessing my eggs are mostly similar to others.  I looked at blackbirds13 eggs and I'm thinking they're close to what mine would look like in an incubator.  The blue of the cream legbar eggs is so elusive to photo, but oh so pretty!

WOW, this picture could be framed... Beautiful Eggs!

My three wee chicks, not quite so wee anymore. They've entered that adorable "ugly duckling" stage. :)

James, 4 weeks old. His wing and tail feathers are growing so fast.

Joan, 3 weeks old. Tiny little crest.

Jett, 3 weeks old. Slightly darker and warmer-colored than Joan.

The lighting came out a bit different in each photo -- not sure why. Joan looks lankier here but I think it's how they're standing.

Note: I only name my birds for record-keeping. (Yeah, right.)
;-)

It might have been asked before and then lost.

How tolerant of other cockerels/roosters are Cream Legbars?

Temporarily I've placed my white pair with my cream trio and a couple of bantam cochin hens.(2 cockerels and 5 hens/pullets) All the legbars are under 20 weeks and the bantam cochins have them cowed right now. I was wondering if this arrangment could be maintained into adulthood? So far it's been fine because everyone is more worried about those saucy little banty hens.

My CL seem to be relatively submissive. I tried growing them out in a pen with rocks of the same age, sexes mixed. Of course the rocks were somewhat bigger. I had to separate them because the CL's couldn't even approach the feeders or waters after a few weeks without getting chased away. They seem gentle and standoffish with me as well. When I pick them up they run but they don't fight.
