Where did you get your eggs from?

Thanks GaryDean. I was hoping you'd have more "pullets" in your response. lol. These eggs came from my pair I got from a breeder in Overbrook, KS. I live about an hour from him. I've been waiting pretty much forever for my first hatch.

Of my four males, one was aggressive towards my son. He started chasing him regularly, so he went. Otherwise, they seem average. They work out well with each other, but were more dominant than a same age wyandotte.

I also had four males. One has been rehomed, one is with "the girls" and the other two are in separate bachelor quarters. One was always dominant. The others had/have no tail feathers from being chased. When I took one out, another would take over the dominant role. They are now 23 weeks and do not like each other. None have attacked a person. The only problem I have today is that I have changed my mind about which one I want with "the girls". Will switch them tonight tonight when it's dark.

Yay!! Maybe I'll be famous! I've got 3 more going in tonight. I might have a slight addiction to incubating.... I'll be posting those results in 21-ish days.

my one little CL girl is also 2 gens removed, as the breeder i got her from, got the parents from Greenfire -- can't wait to see how she grows up!

Is there a consensus of rooster behavior?

It sounds like we don't have attack-roosters, but we also don't have cuddly guys. Did I read all the posts and interpret correctly?

I'm a great fan of our cream legbars, and my rooster was VERY (maybe overly) protective for a little time-window. One of the funny things is before he does anything he makes his hackles stick straight out like a lion's mane, and then flaps his wings....so fair warning..... (to make himself look bigger?)---- For now we have a truce in the chicken yard.

I am concerned though about anyone other than myself being in the pen, and I don't let them out of their 'pasture' as much any more. There hasn't been an incident, but I want to prevent anything from happening. So in answer to the question someone posted 'are cream legbar roosters mean'. Would you say they are average or a bit above average on the mean rooster scale?

Mine has come after me a few times before. Nothing major. And I had to separate my boys once they matured. Then I had my second roo in a large pen with lots of girls and another rooster. That didn't work either. He beat the snot out of that rooster. For me, I won't put another rooster in with my Legbars. I eventually got rid of the second rooster.
