Chapter Seventy Four
I was tired. And my head hurt. And my wings hurt. I couldn't fly.
And on top of all that, I have to keep watching for some stupid hawk trying to catch me for so long.
And Sky hated me.
I remembered that it was almost my three year birthday, but I didn't care anymore.
As I scurried from bush to bush trying not to be seen, I wondered what was the meaning of life.
I head a slight sound from behind me.
I froze.
"Apple!" A cry came out, "Apple?"
Was it Sky?
A blue budgie popped out from the bush plants.
"Apple!" He cried when he found me.
I turned to leave. I wasn't in the mood for this. After all, Sky abandoned me once. What's going to stop him from doing it again?
"Apple, wait!"
I stopped and turned around, waiting for whatever he had to say.
"I'm sorry I did what I did."
I looked at him as if to say "Sure you are."
But instead of saying that, I said, "Leaf's your mate. You'd better stay with her."
I turned around and rushed into the bushes.
And no matter how much Sky would call, I did not go back.
However much I didn't want to do what I was doing right now, however much I wanted this to not be the last time I saw Sky, it made sense. Leaf wouldn't like Sky going off in crazy places.
With the bird that killed her chicks.
I squeezed my eyes shut.
A sudden swoosh of the wind from behind me jerked my head up.
Too late, something sharp was already poking into my sides and carrying me away.
