The Meanest, Nastiest, Fowlest (pun-intended) Chickens of All

Silver Laced Wyandottes. Hands down. Not just one bird either, the entire flock from Ideal hatchery that I purchased was awful. They killed anything I put in that pen, chicks that were hatched by them were ruthlessly murdered by their own mothers. They killed the roosters, yet the roosters would attack me.

I ate them all. Stupid, evil, awful birds from Hades.

Becky,

Thanks for all of the feedback. I got a chuckle out of Freezer Camp.

I'm intrigued with the BB Old English Game Bantams and am interested in having a couple of roosters just because they're so beautiful. I fear though that they're loud and continuous in their cock-a-doodle-doing. I'm also curious how well they play with others. I would be adding them to the additional mix of chicks I've got listed in my signature file.

What have your experiences been with your OEGB Rooster in the noise department? Does he play well with others or is he spending a little too much time in the Time Out Chair?

That's pretty funny, actually.

You're like the Andrea Yates of chicken farmers, but you just didn't resort to a bathtub.

White leghorns, hands down... Aggressive, flighty and Will Bite... Most of your Mediteranian breeds are that way, but great egg layers.
I've never had trouble with my silver laced wyandottes, both hens are friendly...or actually just plain goofy.

I have a pair of pyncheon bantams that I think are downright evil. I gave a rooster to a friend and she got rid of it because it was so mean. Even though it only weighed about a pound it would attack anything that came near. The large fowl roosters in her flock didn't stand a chance against it. With mine I use a small shovel to hold them at bay while I add feed or water in their cage. I once reached into the cage bare handed to remove an egg and came away with 18 bloody peck marks of the back of my hand before I could get it out.

I have had chickens all my life and I have only had 2 roos that were attack roos. Both were interacting with teenage boys at the time they became mean. Coincidence or not? Who knows. One attacked my brother and the other my son. Both became Sunday dinner. One was a RIR and one a BRock. RIR do seem to be more high strung and aggressive than the other breeds I have, but I keep one most of the time because they do a great job of watch-chicken. He is the first to start screaming about the injustices of the world. He is not alpha, he is just a good roo. Interestingly enough, my BO roo is the alpha. He is actually the most gentle I have but will not put up with any horse-play

in the coop. Occasionally the other roos (3) will come challenge him and he lays them out and then comes up to me for a stroke. What a whimp. He just has the wool pulled over the other roos' eyes.

I personally would get the chooks I thought would fit in best with the orchard environment or the ones I liked the best and go with them and see how it went. Do you have small children or other animals because that would also be a factor in my selection? Do you want to eat them? Do you want bug eaters or just eggs? Do you want eggs, meat, and bug eaters??

my brown leghorn rooster was horrible completely horrible my white leghorn ladies are angels just very flighty. then my production red shes EVILLLLLLLLLL oh and

Silkies are the nastiest, meanest chicken you can own

I am kidding.

Our NHRs are bossy, but they act more like kids fighting over a toy rather than killing each other. When I watch them it is hilarious. They are great birds and are very friendly towards us.

We joined at the same, too

The only mean chicken I've ever owned was a Sicilian Buttercup/Silkie cross roo that I hatched and raised. He was affectionate as a youngster but turned mean once we put him out in the coop. He attacked me whenever I went out and wouldn't let my mom in the yard at all. Oliver went to live on a local farm because I worried he'd turn against my young son.

Have had OEGB for years and with one exception they have all had manners. the who didn't might have been our fault as we named him Godzilla. He was wonderful with the hens but he owned eveything he saw.Would attack us with little provovation.also attacked the UPS man, you could hear the screams and knew your package had arrived. Godzilla snuck up on my husband one time too many, and he was gone!
