Do you have bantam mottled Cochins? If so do you ever sell pairs?

I did finally figure out that they were champion sitters, just rotten mothers. If I get the chicks out once they hatch and brood them in the house they do fine. Of course, at that point, it is just as easy to use the incubator. Silly birds. I'm not sure which line that broodiness comes through, but I have two black ones and a blue that are consistently edging towards the nests.

Donna put me down for two camels, 3 ostrich's & 1 jackass. LOL Meant to tell you thanks for the BLRW, she fit right in & appears to have taken the spot of top hen. I also think the layers are the leghorns. The eggs are getting a little bigger. I'm also pretty sure one of the silkies is a Roo, he's quiet though so might get to stay. How's the Blue Roo looking since you got him home? I would have posted earlier but my phone died & I just got a new one.

several of them bantams and LF at the auction....pretty cheap too.

ok to me it was a little less than a wash. I sold my SPW for a loss really but they needed to go. guinea sold cheap $5.50 Each.....hoped for more but they are not eating my feed anymore at $19 a bag a week.

I pulled my wheatens.....they only offered $6 each.....white leghorn sold for $25 Each and so did Easter eggers. someone bought them after the auction so all was ok there. the lady I was sitting next to ordered 100 Marans chicks yeah! she bought 70. got clean thanked cuckoo's for $13 each for 12 girls and 4 roos. I took one roo.

most little tiny chickens like old English sold for 2-3 each. it was really sad. someone sold 4 roos for 2 each and airbrush $5 commission they got 3 and lost a cage. very few birds got a good price. silver sebrights sold for 40-50 EACH! white face Spanish for 85 EACH. most pullets were between 8-12 each. I will NEVER go to sell in the fall. guy told me they go for 3-4xs the price in the spring. quail for $1 really depressing to see. dead bird sick birds cages just packed with birds.

that is the way it always in up there...we have been several times since we live only about 25 miles from there...very rarely does a bird ever sell over $4-5 each...everyone always bring sick birds. and most are VERY packed in cages...most without feed or water...I would NEVER buy any animal from that place. they dont do any tests on any birds nor do they make the sellers or buyers follow any of the rules such as feed and water for the birds and enough room for each bird...there are also so many smokers in that barn that you can hardly breath. and definitely not a place to bring young children, they may come out of there knowing a few more words than what they knew before LOL!!
