We have decided to sell our white silkies 3 Roosters and 3 hens 5 pullets (that should start laying soon). We need space for other colors, so keeping 1 pair.

in less than one year I went from 5 to 50 and now in my 3rd year had as many as 600 (400 chick). not going to repeat that. lol

finally I feel like I can breath again

We went from 0 to 45 in six months. Don't think we will ever hit 600 hundred, Not with out more land anyway

Well, got to go out and fix my chicken coop before we head back to church tonight. Something tore into it last night (I think it was my dog, but not sure) None of the chickens was the least bit shook up or harmed. My dog doesn't bother the chickens, but she loves to go in their coop during the day to eat their food lol. Which is really funny cause they are constantly eating her food. Anyway, last night I realized someone had left the dog out. We leave her out during the day (if she wants out) but she is always in before it gets dark. Needless to say, I let her in late last night and then found the damaged coop this morning. She is a lab and has torn into it twice before. Not sure why she does it unless its just for the food, which she always has plenty of.

Seeing as how none of the chickens were hurt, I think it was her. Now to go fix the damage.

There is a new processor in Walling, near Rock Island, if you want to drive that far. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks good.

Barbie got 1st in Best of Breed at the Delta Fair in Memphis yesterday! (Barred Rock pullet 6 months old)


Prince got 1st in Best of Breed at the Delta Fair in Memphis yesterday (9 wk old Jersey Giant cockerel)


Jeff Gordon (aka Snoodles) got a 1st in Best of Breed at the Delta Fair in Memphis, TN yesterday. He hatched in March this year and weighs 14+ lbs!
